An essay was posted on the Very Smart Brothas website regarding the friendship that Trayvon Martin had with Rachel Jeantel. Young Ms. Jeantel was on the phone with Trayvon moments before he was killed. Now, Ms. Jeantel was clowned terribly by many people for her perceived lack of education during her testimony. While it was their job to attempt to discredit Ms. Jeantel's testimony, the defense attorneys for the accused seemed to take special effort to make Ms. Jeantel seem as if she did not have the mental capacity to understand what was going on the night Trayvon was killed. A photo of the primary defense attorney, Don West, was posted on Instagram after Ms. Jeantel's testimony was completed. Mr. West was shown eating ice cream with his daughter and one other person. The photo was captioned, "We beat stupidity celebration cones". The photo was hashtagged "#zimmerman," "#defense" and "#dadkilledit."
Meanwhile, Ms. Jeantel's friend is still dead and the heartache of having to relive the night of his death is still fresh in her mind while a good portion of the country laughs at her or insults her appearance. My heart hurts over this kid's death. My heart hurts over any 'good kid's' death. And, I'm disgusted at the way this culture treats its children. In a span of months, it has trivialized the death of a child with statements like "Sorry, 'innocent' boys don't try to beat up anyone, much less the local watchman" and then followed its callous disregard of the loss of the life of this young man with its mockery of the victim's friend.
*smh*
Shame on us all.
Anyway, I recommend that you go to the Very Smart Brothas website and look at the article to get an insight on the interpersonal relationship of Trayvon and Rachel.

Tweet! Tweet! Rockin’ Robin!
I've done some acrobatically filthy things with eagerly willing participants. But…
*lost my thought*
Wassup, piglets.
I need a Mountain Dew. But, MD keeps weight on you like a diver's belt. So, my creativity must be internally fueled. I apologize in advance.
So, yeah…Twitter. Ever tried it? Tens of millions of people on it as you read this, but I know a few people who still think, "That's just a fad." Hell, my dad, who has sent me 800-character text messages, still thinks rap is a fad and hates my baggy jeans & boots. Meanwhile, my son rides a skateboard and dresses like a pre-1968 peace activist complete with "stovepipe" jeans, fedoras, and oxford shirts.
Anyway, I apologize for the digression. Back to Twitter. The more I interact with people on the basis of hip hop on this social medium, the more artists I find who are creating some great music without the backing or, more importantly, direction of profit-driven, commercial radio-focused major labels.
You've seen young Wiki, below. But, I've also found hard working, but relatively unknown, artists, groups and producers like Classified, Conrizzle, Clear Soul Forces, Droop E, Mike Mills, and Reallionaire Jream along with Hip Hop legends like Erick Sermon. I named these folks in particular because they have free music on the web…and, it's good music.
*shrug* I'm sure you'll do what you do. But, if you're open to suggestion, check Twitter out, you pseudo-Luddite. It might surprise you.
If a woman the same size as her partner picks a physical fight with him and he defends himself, is he an "abuser"? Women will say some crazy shit like, "She couldn't hurt him"...as if his skin is organic steel like Colossus. Or: He shouldn't have been with her in the first place. (Riiight. Cuz, prognostication & clairvoyance comes with the penis.) Or, my favorite: Men MAKE women act like they do. (I've heard that from a few women who didn't want to take responsibility for their OWN actions.)
Seen this yet? Rihanna Defiantly Refuses to End Contact with Chris Brown
There a reason why those two singers keep hanging out. Everyone condemned the dude, ignoring reports that their relationship was "volatile". "Volatile" is media for "She swings on folks". Now, look back at how that shook out. When she showed up w/black eyes, she wasn't talking. You ever got your ass beat after you started the fight? Your ass was quiet, weren't you? You knew you deserved that whuppin'.
Is domestic violence acceptable? No. But, I bet your mom's last paycheck that your reaction is different if a dude picks a fight w/his woman and she beats dat ass. You'd laugh. Everything in the reports about the night when she showed up looking like a speed bump said to me that she picked that fight...and lost. Now...look at yourself and compare how that agitates you. He was supposed to not defend himself, right?
The rule remains the same for women as it does for men: NO HITTING!!! Maybe they've grown up some and learned that lesson.
Meanwhile...you #GoSiddown

The Politics of Race & the Death of a Child
The more I deal with people, the less I want to. Some people cling to this shining hope that people can rise above their simian natures to attain something better as a species. *smh* That's…NOT…gonna happen. The internet, the very vehicle of communication on which you are reading this, gives all the proof you need or desire to see mankind's TRUE condition as venal, self-centered primates.
CASE IN POINT:
As you may see below, this is the time period after the death of Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old boy slain while returning from a snack run. George Zimmerman, an armed 28-year-old man, after being instructed to remain in his vehicle, stalked, confronted and killed this unarmed teenager with a gunshot. What I stated here is not disputed by anyone. However, justification for this young man's MURDER is offered based on the fact that Trayvon is a Black teenager while Zimmerman is of mixed racial descent, White & Latino. Caucasian Americans have offered statistics on "Black on Black" crime in rebuttal.HOW IS THAT RELEVANT?
What you're saying is that I should not feel outrage at this young man's death because of something that happened to someone else? You're excusing the murder of a child because of…racial politics? People's propensity to play saints & sinners in response to a tragedy is sickening.
George Zimmerman's father is a retired District Court judge. And, while you can't PROVE something like coercion or use of influence by their absence, what man do you know of that can get into a physical dispute with a policeman and the case just goes away? Don't let Zimmerman's undoubtedly shrewd defense team trick you into thinking about this case in the terms of race. Once you do, then they can plant seeds of reasonable doubt. That's legalese for, "Maybe he didn't do it." Or, "Maybe Trayvon deserved to die."
The bottom line is this: Zimmerman is NOT a police officer. This was NOT an undercover operation. Young Mr. Martin was unarmed and did not confront Mr. Zimmerman in his vehicle. Finally, there's this: If George Zimmerman had remained in his car, had followed police instruction, had not stalked and confronted this man-child, he may not be alive today; BUT HE WOULD NOT HAVE DIED THAT NIGHT AT GEORGE ZIMMERMAN'S HAND. That, and only that, is the basis for judgment.
The politics of race OBVIOUSLY needs to still be addressed in America.* 44 years after the death of America's most famous civil rights leader, digression in the mindset of the majority and in their children is horribly evident in the incendiary comments and posts left intentionally scattered throughout this very vehicle of communication on which you are reading this. But, leave it out of THIS case and judge just based on the evidence.
* A heartfelt plea to the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK is here: http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/04/02/police-the-race-game-and-a-request-to-the-cps/
A father's lessons to his son are here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/24/trayvon-martin-my-son-and_1_n_1377003.html?ref=mostpopular

Stability…Reassurance
An overwhelming percentage of the activity that we engage in is in a search for stability and reassurance. Even when the activity is self-destructive, it is usually a person's way of asserting their own individuality, which in turn reassures that individual that he or she is unique and in control of their 'self'. Nowhere in human behavior is this more evident than in the mating rituals of humankind. In increasingly rare circumstances, parents pick their child's mate. Even this practice is followed to assure the parents and other older relatives that their genetic heritage will continue. Stability…reassurance.
Social media, the latest internet rage, puts a new spin on mating rituals. You can build a profile of yourself for others to review. You add relevant, socially acceptable (American custom considers asking a woman's height marginally acceptable, but asking her weight to be unacceptable), statistics and, usually, a description of yourself before placing yourself on display like a canned ham on a shelf. Then, other individuals peruse those e-shelves. They poke, prod and examine the merchandise in hopes of finding that perfect someone. By matching your stated desires with someone's stated qualities, you're assured of finding the person that you are compatible with…at least that what the marketing department says. Stability…reassurance.
The thing is: Nobody wants to think of himself or herself as 'average'. So, women are "purpose-driven" and "motivated" and are "looking for the same in a life partner". Stability…reassurance. *smh* Are those the words that come to your mind when you think about the people that love you? Honestly? Ugh!
Even guys who profess to have that "I don't love them hoes" philosophy live that way in order to protect their fragile egos. Their professed philosophy states that if they achieve a level of success in their chosen enterprise, then they will gain the attention of women anyway. But, because of their success, these males can now deal with females on their own terms. Stability…reassurance.
I just want to be settled enough in myself that I don't need to engage in these monkeyshines. I want to free myself from my own need of reassurance and find my own stability. I function best in a state of detachment. I'm well aware that this is my own form of stability & reassurance. But, like you, I need to be able to live with myself.

2010…and Still No Flying Cars
We've been back to work for two (count 'em: 2) days. How you go'n call in sick today when you already don't have any time? I love her to death. But, um, this ain't what you might call an "employee-friendly" economy. Betta step lively and watch the closing doors!
Ex-wives are the curse of the universe on men dumb enough to get married. Ugh!
Do you ever look at a dumb assed individual and incredulously realize that THIS slow fucker was his dad's fastest sperm that day? You jus' have to quietly hope that that nigga started eatin' some fruit or somethin' to improve the quality of his subsequent busts.
Cage and Eminem have individually spit some of the most venomous bars ever heard on mics. They've said some ol' uncomfortable shit in their quest to rise to the top of the rap game in their respective genres. Both of them are on some ol' whiny-assed EMO shit right now. It's tragically comical. Everybody ain't built to be a thug. That lifestyle will tear you up and scatter the pieces.
Me & Laura talked about each other for about two hours today. She's gonna get me fired (again) for laughin'.
You gotta check out Crunk & Disorderly and In Hood Terms. NEITHER Fresh nor Sane got good sense.
This Dating Game is on my mind on my mind on my mind. That whole cocoon thing? Hm. It's lookin' better and better. Doin' what you're supposed to can (and quite often does) leave you assed out. Playin' the game better than them others leaves a wake of pissed off folks in your wake. So, what ta do…what ta do.
Plus, I'm gunshy. How do I know that this woman who's all that & a bag a chips won't decide later that she can't stand me? Answer: I can't know that. You picks up ya cards. You plays the hand yer dealt.
Sista said I was 'Shallow Hal' cuz I said I answered her question with the response that I won't date a 450lb. chick who isn't cute? If that's how it gotta be, then so be it. Like the sayings go: Life's too short to date ugly chicks…and…I ain't go'n bump no mo' wit' no big fat woman.
I guess.
